FALL Online ITALIAN CONVERSATION classes

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY is one of the things YOU can work towards during these strange times—thank goodness! Many people do study on their own, but as with so many things, having a weekly meeting/deadline can really get you to make faster progress and enjoy yourself at the same time in the company of others!!!

Get it this fall!

Let’s do CONVERSATIONAL Italian. Why Italian? Because as the first foreign language most encounter it is the one you were least ready to apply your now considerable pronunciation/analytical chops on....and if you were exposed to Italian in school at a basic undergrad level you NEVER GOT BACK TO IT ON A MORE EXPERT LEVEL..... consequently it suffered more, although, in this country, it is the most common language operas are produced in...so it behooves us to be proficient!

It's more important than ever to learn to speak semi-decently at least one of the languages you sing in....You will feel much closer to the emotional core of your character, AND the other languages you sing in will be informed by your greater, more holistic understanding of what you learned from your first "other" language, the one you're going to speak semi-decently (as mentioned above) OR BETTER!!!!

SO, there will be TWO levels !!!

  • LESS——(Repeat Beginner to Intermediate) --for the rest of us, where review of verbs and structure will be part of the info and round-robin fun we'll have!!!

  • It’s been a while or you never got past the present tense or you never spoke much—and don’t remember much of that—or wish you had more confidence in sentence structure to express yourself and comprehension, to understand others.

  • Starts November 2, Monday, for 8 weeks 6-7 PM. But you CAN join up to 1 week later!

  • MORE——(Intermediate and Beyond!) You’ve got some verb tenses, and even some good vocabulary, but want to improve your ability to converse; to explore MORE verb forms and even understand complex opera libretti as well as handle daily situations. You can actually speak--even if you're a bit rusty--and maybe follow programming, movies, TV shows, etc.)

  • Starts November 3, Wednesday, for 8 weeks 6-7 PM. But you CAN join up to 1 week later!

****I will be providing most of the materials you need, and guiding our discussions in Italian while encouraging lots of participation from you! Speaking and writing and wrestling our verbs to the ground CAN be done! Plus you’ll find the assignments intriguing and the size of the classes will give you lots of opportunities to contribute to the round table discussions.

SO:
Let’s talk about which category YOU fit into... The sessions will be one hour long and I do ask for an 8 week commitment. The fee is $120 payable in advance for 8 weeks, pro-ratable if we’ve decided that you can join late.
